IOWA WILD SIGNS GERALD MAYHEW FOR 2017-18 SEASON

DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr announced on Thursday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed forward Gerald Mayhew to an AHL standard player contract (SPC) for the 2017-18 season.
Mayhew, 24 (12/31/1992), turned pro by signing an amateur tryout agreement (ATO) with the Iowa Wild on Mar. 8. In 17 games with Iowa the rookie forward scored six goals and totaled seven points. The Wyandotte, MI native completed a four-year career at Ferris State University this spring, playing in 150 games for the Bulldogs. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward scored 52 goals and added 67 goals for 119 collegiate points. Mayhew led the Bulldogs in scoring in each of the past three seasons, scoring 17 goals and adding 18 assists for 35 points in 33 games as a senior. He posted career bests for assists and points as a junior, setting up 25 goals and totaling 41 points in 41 outings. Mayhew played in Cedar Rapids from 2011-13, scoring 36 goals and totaling 77 points in 117 USHL games for the RoughRiders.
Opening Night 2017 is slated for Saturday, Oct. 7 with a complete 76-game regular season schedule announced at a later date during the summer.
