IOWA WILD WINS AHL MARKETING CAMPAIGN OF THE YEAR
Jun 28, 2024ROSEMONT, Ill. – The American Hockey League announced winners of the league’s annual team business awards Thursday and recognized the Iowa Wild as the winner of the 2023-24 Marketing Campaign of the Year award. Iowa also earned multiple team achievement awards for accomplishments by the team’s ticket sales department.
The Iowa Wild marketing department launched the #ItStartsInDSM campaign ahead of the 2023-24 season, which emphasized the team’s track record of preparing players for success with the Minnesota Wild. The award-winning campaign included:

A locker room wall with #ItStartsInDsm emblazoned above mounted photographs of notable alumni

Integrated social media campaigns, internal and external advertising, graphic design elements, and more

A new television and OTT strategy that showcased the success of Iowa Wild alumni in the NHL
The Iowa Wild brand grew tremendously over the course of the 2023–24 season. Team merchandise revenue grew 16.6% since the 22–23 season and can be seen worn by fans all over the state of Iowa along with 47 states and eight countries including Australia, Austria, Canada, England, Germany, Norway, Republic of Korea, and Scotland. The #ItStartsInDSM social media campaign yielded over 33.4 million impressions, 898.8k engagements, and our audience increased by 6.5%. There was also a heavy increase in media coverage, both locally and nationally, since the season kicked off, gaining 8% more paid media value than the previous season.
The AHL also honored the Iowa Wild with multiple team achievement awards for milestones achieved by the sales and corporate sponsorship departments. These awards included recognition for:
