Iowa Forward Heads to ECHL Affiliate
Des Moines, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced on Friday the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forward Stephane Veilleux from the Iowa Wild, Minnesota’s primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill also announced on Friday the AHL club has assigned forward Taylor Matson to the Orlando Solar Bears, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.
Veilleux has played in 25 games for Iowa this season, scoring three goals and collecting eight points. Over the course of his 13-year career, the winger has played in 322 AHL games, scoring 66 goals and setting up 96 others for 162 points. Veilleux has also played in 471 NHL games for Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Jersey. For his NHL career, Veilleux has 46 goals and 55 assists for 101 points. The 32-year old was drafted in the third round of the in 2001 NHL Entry Draft (#93 overall) by Minnesota.
Matson has spent the entire 2013-14 season with the Wild. In 26 games with Iowa, the rookie forward has three goals and 12 penalty minutes. The Mound, MN native played his college hockey at the University of Minnesota from 2008-12, scoring 21 times and totaling 43 points in 108 WCHA games. The Vancouver Canucks drafted Matson in the sixth round (#126 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
