Minnesota Sends Defenseman To Chicago For a Pair
Des Moines, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Wednesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired forward Brad Winchester from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Brian Connelly. In addition, Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club, has also acquired defenseman Zach Miskovic as part of the trade.
Winchester, 32 (3/1/81), has collected 30 points (16-14=30) including six power-play goals and 85 penalty minutes (PIM) in 55 games with the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League (AHL) this season. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound native of Madison, Wis., has recorded 68 points and 552 PIM in 390 career NHL games during seven seasons with Edmonton, Dallas, St. Louis, Anaheim and San Jose (2005-12). He has also notched three points (1-2=3) in 24 career NHL playoff matches. Winchester was originally selected by Edmonton in the second-round (35th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Miskovic, (28 (5/8/85), played in 15 games with Rockford this season, after he was acquired in a trade with San Antonio on Jan. 18. The sixth-year pro had seven assists with the Hogs. Miskovic also played in ten games for San Antonio earlier this season, picking up two assists. Over the course of his career, the River Forest, IL native has played in 219 AHL games, scoring 19 goals and totaling 70 points.
Connelly, 27 (6/10/86), led the Iowa Wild (AHL) in scoring this season with 32 points (5-27=32) in 50 games. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound native of Bloomington, Minn., was signed as a free agent by Minnesota on July 6, 2012.
Iowa hosts the Rochester Americans at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27. The team will embark on a five-game road trip with stops in Milwaukee, Chicago and Grand Rapids prior to returning home on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 5:05 p.m. to host San Antonio.
