IOWA WILD ANNOUNCES 2014-15 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE
IOWA OPENS ON THE ROAD, RETURNS HOME OCT. 17 TO HOST MILWAUKEE AT 7 P.M.
Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Wild, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, on Wednesday announced the club’s 2014-15 regular season schedule.
The 76-game regular season includes 38 home and 38 away games. Iowa begins the season on Friday, Oct. 10 at San Antonio by helping the Rampage open its season with a 7:30 p.m. faceoff at AT&T Center. The Wild finish the two-game road trip in Cedar Park, TX. The defending Calder Cup Champion Texas Stars will raise its banner at Cedar Park Center with at 7 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Iowa will host its first home game at Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, Oct. 17 with a 7 p.m. faceoff against the Milwaukee Admirals. The first 5,000 fans to Opening Night will receive an Iowa Wild magnetic schedule, presented by Hicklin Garage Doors. Iowa celebrates Opening Weekend through Saturday, Oct. 18 - a 7 p.m. rematch with the Admirals. The former division rivals met ten times in 2013-14. The Wild continue a four-game homestand on Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. against the Charlotte Checkers.
With AHL realignment over the summer, the Iowa Wild will play its new West division rivals a total of 32 games (eight times each). The Wild will host four games and play four road games against Texas, San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Charlotte. In 2013-14 the Stars, Rampage, Barons and Checkers accounted for a total of 20 games.
Iowa will continue to see its geographical rivals and former division foes a total of eight times apiece. Iowa will host Milwaukee, Chicago and Rockford each four times. The Wild also visits the Admirals, Wolves and IceHogs a total of four times. Former division rival, Grand Rapids will host Iowa for a pair of games, as well as stop at Wells Fargo Arena twice during the 2014-15 campaign.
The schedule features the Iowa Wild’s first-ever School Field Trip Day Game on Thursday, Nov. 6th at 10:30 a.m. when the team welcomes the Rockford IceHogs to town. The team will also host two Saturday matinee games that begin at 12:30 p.m. Iowa hosts an early start time with Hamilton on Saturday, Jan. 31 and on Saturday, Mar. 28 against San Antonio.
The Lake Erie Monsters and Hamilton Bulldogs will be making multiple appearances in Des Moines this season. The Monsters, who moved to the Midwest Division, visit the Wild on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18. The North-division Bulldogs will play a pair of games at Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, Jan 30 and again on Jan 31. Iowa plays two games at both Lake Erie (Cleveland) and Hamilton.
The remaining North Division teams: Toronto, Utica and Rochester, will see the Wild for a pair of games during the 2014-15 season, with each team hosting one game and visiting Iowa for another.
The team’s longest homestand of the season is six games from Mar. 15- Mar. 29. Over the stretch, the Wild sees Rockford, Charlotte (2x), Texas and San Antonio (2x). Iowa plays 11 of its final 15 regular season games at Wells Fargo Arena.
The team sees its longest road trip begin in late November and end in early December. The Wild will play five road games from Nov. 26 – Dec. 8, with trips to Rockford, Texas, San Antonio and Charlotte (2x). Iowa’s toughest road stretch falls from Nov. 12 - Dec. 8, where the team plays eight out of 11 games away from home.
The Iowa Wild will release a full promotional schedule in the upcoming week. Individual tickets for all 38 home games will go on sale at a later date. Iowa will play a home-and-home preseason set against the Chicago Wolves. The two teams will meet at Wells Fargo Arena in the first meeting, set for Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. There will be a full-team autograph session following the preseason game. Iowa Wild season ticket holders (full, 21-game, 10-game) will be admitted to the preseason game free of charge and will also be able to pick up their season tickets starting at 4:30 p.m. Preseason tickets are on sale at the Wells Fargo Arena box office or by calling (515) 564-8700. Advanced tickets are priced at $6.00 until the day of the game, when the price increases to $8.00. A portion of the proceeds from a silent auction will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Iowa. Parking is available in the North lot for $7.00 for all patrons.
Iowa wraps up its two-game set with Chicago at the Wolves practice facility in Hoffman Estates, IL. The Wolves will host the Wild on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Triphahn Community Center Ice Arena, located at 1685 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates, IL. Wild fans interested in attending the game may purchase tickets for $8.00 at the main counter of the Triphahn Community Center.
The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center and begins on the road Oct. 10 in San Antonio. Fans may purchase seats to Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Milwaukee Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
