Iowa Releases Rioux From PTO

DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Friday that defenseman Corbin Baldwin has been recalled from the Alaska Aces, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate. Mill also announced that defenseman Nicholas Rioux has been released from a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Baldwin, played in two games for Iowa this season, recording two penalty minutes. The third-year defender played in four games for the Alaska Aces this year, registering one assist. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder played in 64 games for Iowa last season, leading the team with 129 penalty minutes. The Winnipeg, MB native has played in 70 AHL games over his career, setting up two goals and collecting 138 minutes in penalties.

Rioux played in three games without registering a point for the Wild this year. He played in eight games last season for the Wild without registering a point. He started this season with the ECHL’s Quad City Mallards, playing in three games without a point. Rioux is a fourth-year pro who played in 58 games for the Mallards last year, posting career highs of five goals and 27 assists for 32 points. He was also among the team leaders with a +16 rating.

Iowa continues a three-game home stand against Chicago with a two-game series at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. Saturday night is Ladies Night, where the first 2,500 fans receive an Iowa Wild ice scraper sponsored by Greater Iowa Credit Union. All ladies (21 and over) may purchase glasses of wine for a $1.00 discount. The Wild will also host Special Olympics Night on Saturday. Sunday is Pucks N’ Paws day, where the first 2,500 fans receive pet tags, compliments of Anderson Animal Hospital. Fans may bring their dog to the game with the purchase of a special $14 ticket, with $2 going back to the Animal Rescue League. Fans are invited to bring a pet food item to donate, for which they receive a free ticket to an upcoming Iowa Wild game. It is also a Subway Family Four Pack game, where fans may purchase four tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs, starting at $48.       

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
