MILWAUKEE, WI – The Iowa Wild (3-10-0-0, 6 points) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (8-3-0-0, 16 points) 3-2 in front of 2,454 fans at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Wednesday night. After falling behind 2-1 in the second period, Iowa stormed back with two goals before the middle frame expired, claiming a 3-2 lead and holding on for its third win of the year. Tyler Graovac and Zack Phillips each tallied second-period markers to propel the team to its second win over the Admirals this season. Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson (3-6-0) picked up the win with 26 saves, including 11 saves in the third to preserve the victory. The win marks the first victory under newly appointed Head Coach John Torchetti. Iowa returns home for ALS Weekend with the Oklahoma City Barons at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The Wild got off to a quick start, opening the scoring with the period’s only goal merely 30 seconds into the game. Zack Phillips won an offensive zone faceoff to Michael Keranen, who played the puck to the blueline for Danny Syvret. The Wild defenseman snapped a wrist shot through traffic and past Milwaukee goalie Marek Mazanec for the 1-0 lead and his second goal of the season.

Milwaukee tied the game 1-1 at the 7:44 marker of the middle frame. Michael Liambass potted a rebound off a Richard Clune shot, scoring his first of the night and second goal of the year. Less than a minute later, Liambass finished off a two-on-one at 8:26, giving the Admirals a 2-1 lead. Clune and Greg Noonan set up Liambass’ third goal of the year. The Wild countered, tying the game 2-2 at 9:04 of the second period. Center Tyler Graovac found a rebound in the crease and snuck the puck past Marek Mazanec. Graovac’s second goal of the year was set up by Marc Hagel and defenseman Jonathon Blum. Phillips pushed the Wild in front with his third goal of the season at 13:01. Forward Stephane Veilleux and defenseman Alex Gudbranson each picked up an assist on Phillips’ goal for the 3-2 lead.
