Folin Expected to Make AHL Debut This Weekend
DES MOINES, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Tuesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Justin Falk from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) and reassigned defenseman Christian Folin (pronounced FOE-lin) to Iowa.
Falk, 26, has totaled one assist and 22 PIM in 12 games with Iowa this season. He has also skated in two games with Minnesota. The 6-foot-5, 222-pound native of Snowflake, Man., has totaled 17 points (1-16=17) and 120 penalty minutes (PIM) in 131 career NHL games with Minnesota and the New York Rangers. He was originally selected by the Wild in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and signed as a free agent with Minnesota on Aug. 1.
Folin, 23, skated in eight games with Minnesota this season and averaged 14:10 in TOI/game. The 6-foot-3, 214-pound native of Gothenburg, Sweden, made his NHL debut on April 10, 2014, against St. Louis and recorded an assist. He owns one assist and seven PIM in nine NHL contests. Folin was signed as a free agent on March 31, 2014.
Iowa returns home for ALS Weekend on Nov. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m., welcoming the Oklahoma City Barons. After the game, the Wild will hold a live jersey auction, with the proceeds benefitting the ALS Association – Iowa Chapter.
The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
