Iowa Assigns Curt Gogol to Alaska
DES MOINES, Iowa – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Sunday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned defenseman Jonathon Blum and forward Jordan Schroeder (SHRAY-duhr) to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill also announced the AHL club has reassigned forward Curt Gogol to the Alaska Aces, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.
Blum, 25 (1/20/89), has collected one assist and averaged 9:52 in time on ice in four games with Minnesota this season. He leads Iowa defensemen in scoring with 16 points (4-12=16) in 29 contests. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Long Beach, Calif., has collected 24 points (7-17=24) in 110 career NHL games in parts of five seasons with Nashville and Minnesota.
Schroeder, 24 (9/29/90), has recorded nine shots in three games with Minnesota this season. He ranks first on Iowa in points-per-game this season (0.86), totaling 24 points (10-14=24) in 28 contests. The 5-foot-9, 176-pound native of Prior Lake, Minn., has totaled 15 points (6-9=15) in 59 career NHL games during parts of three seasons with Vancouver and Minnesota.
After playing in 25 games for the Wild this season, the fourth-year pro heads to Anchorage. Gogol leads the team and places in the top ten of the AHL with 123 penalty minutes. The 23-year old has played in 41 games for Iowa over the last two seasons and is the team’s all-time leader with 178 penalty minutes. Over the course of his career, the Calgary, AB native has played in 172 AHL games, scoring 15 goals and totaling 24 points, while amassing 633 minutes in penalties.
On Sunday, Jan. 18, the Wild and Monsters meet again at 3 p.m. Also on Sunday, the Wild celebrates Kids WinterFest, featuring Xbox Dance Revolution, face painting, balloon artists and a sign station, presented by Fast Signs. The first 1,500 youths to the game (12 and under) receives an Iowa Wild green youth jersey, presented by KDSM FOX 17 & Scheels. The team is also hosting its first ever Baby Derby, presented by Me & Mommy To Be. Fans will be able to watch the baby’s crawl to see which is the fastest in central Iowa. Fans will also be able to purchase the Subway Combo Pack, presented by Subway and More 104. The Subway Combo Pack includes one ticket, one hot dog, one soda and a Subway coupon, starting at just $12. The Wild also hosts a public skate after the game, presented Grip Tite. All fans are reminded to bring their skates.
Iowa finishes its three-game home stand on Thursday, Jan. 22 against Rockford at 7 p.m. It’s also a Throwback Thursday game, where fans may purchase hot dogs for a dollar, sponsored by 95 KGGO. Also on Thursday, fans may send pictures to the Wild (via social media) of themselves in hockey jerseys or while skating, for a chance to win prizes. Additionally, those who bring a Subway receipt may purchase a ticket for $5 at the box office.
The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
