 IOWA SIGNS TWO-TIME STANLEY CUP CHAMPION RUSLAN FEDOTENKO

Veteran Forward Brings NHL Experience to AHL Club

DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Tuesday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed forward Ruslan Fedotenko (roo-slahn, FED-oh-Tink-oh) to a professional tryout agreement (PTO). Mill also announced forward Olivier Archambault (oh-live-ee-ay, ARE-Scham-Bow) has been assigned to the Alaska Aces, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.

Fedotenko joins the Wild after spending the 2013-14 season playing for Donbass HC of the KHL in Russia. In 46 games, the 36-year old scored seven goals and totaled 17 points. The 15-year veteran has played 12 years in the National Hockey League (NHL): spending time with the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders, New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Fedotenko won a Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in 2003-04 and again in 2008-09 with the Pittsburgh. He also made an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals with the New York Rangers in 2011-12. In all, the native of Kiev, Ukraine has played in 863 NHL regular season games, scoring 173 goals and adding 193 assists for 366 points. Fedotenko has also played in 108 Stanley Cup Playoff games, posting 22 goals and 40 points. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder played parts of his first two professional seasons in the AHL, scoring 17 goals and adding 34 assists for 51 points with the Philadelphia Phantoms from 1999-01. Prior to turning, Fedotenko played one season in the USHL for the Sioux City Musketeers, scoring 43 goals and totaling 77 points in 55 games played.

Archambault will head to the ECHL All-Star game in Orlando to represent the Alaska Aces, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate. He made his Iowa debut on Jan. 13, 2015 – a 3-0 loss at home Chicago. In two games with Iowa, the young forward has been held without a point. The 21-year old was named an ECHL All-Star after scoring 18 goals and totaling 33 points in 32 games for the Aces. Archambault earned an AHL contract by scoring four goals and totaling five points in two preseason games for Iowa this past fall. He recently wrapped up a five-year QMJHL career, which saw him score 100 goals and totaling 231 points in 270 games. He was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round (#108 overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Iowa finishes its three-game home stand on Thursday, Jan. 22 against Rockford at 7 p.m. It is also a Throwback Thursday game, where fans may purchase hot dogs for a dollar, sponsored by 95 KGGO. Also on Thursday, fans may send pictures to the Wild (via social media) of themselves in hockey jerseys or while skating, for a chance to win prizes. Additionally, those who bring a Subway receipt may purchase a ticket for $5 at the box office.

After stops in Milwaukee and Grand Rapids, Iowa heads into the All-Star break. Aftet the mid-season classic, Iowa returns home to face Grand Rapids on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m., kicking off a three-game home stand. It’s also a Throwback Thursday, where fans may purchase sodas for one dollar, presented by 95 KGGO. On Friday, Jan. 30, the Wild hosts the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Also on Friday, Iowa celebrates Military Appreciation Night, where the first 1500 fans receive camou koozies, sponsored by NASH 92.5. Friday’s game is also a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. Fans may purchase 10-ounce domestic beers through the first period of play. Iowa finishes its home stand against Hamilton on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. The Wild will also hold AHA Heart Day, where the first 2500 fans receive mini sticks, presented by ABC 5 WOI-TV.  

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
