Wild Concludes Three-Game Home Stand Saturday at 12:30 PM
DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (15-28-1-1, 32 points) were defeated by the Hamilton Bulldogs (21-17-6-0, 48 points) 2-1 in front of a season-high 8,702 fans on Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Forward T.J. Hensick scored twice in the third period, helping Hamilton erase a 1-0 deficit and take the lead with three minutes remaining in regulation. Hamilton goalie Mike Condon (14-9-3) took care of the rest, making 37 saves on 38 shots for the road win. Despite stopping 27 of 29 shots, Iowa goalie Darcy Kuemper (0-2-0) recorded the loss. Rookie defenseman Guillaume Gelinas scored the Wild’s lone goal. Iowa finishes a three-game home stand at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
After two scoreless periods, rookie defenseman Guillaume Gelinas scored on the power play at the 8:23 mark of the third. Gelinas fired a one-timer past Hamilton goalie Mike Condon for his first goal of the season. Rookie defenseman Brad Richard and forward Marc Hagel assisted Gelinas on the play for the 1-0 Iowa lead. The Bulldogs drew even when forward T.J. Hensick fired a wrist shot at 13:00 of the period to score on power play. Hensick’s 11th goal this year was set up by forwards Charles Hudon and Sven Andrighetto, tying the game 1-1. Hensick scored his second goal of the night 16:58 into the period. Hensick tipped the puck in for his 12th goal of the season. Defenseman Darren Dietz and forward Drayson Bowman assisted Hensick for the 2-1 final.
Iowa finishes its home stand against Hamilton on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. The Wild celebrates AHA Heart Day, where the first 2,500 fans receive mini sticks, presented by ABC 5 AND H&R Block. Iowa embarks on a four-game road trip with stops in Hamilton, Toronto and Adirondack beginning on Feb. 4.
The Wild returns home at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 to face the Texas Stars, the start of a three-game home stand. Before Friday’s game, the Wild is holding a Career Fair from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the Career Fair is free, and any participants taking part in the fair receives a free ticket to Friday’s game. On Saturday Feb. 14, Iowa hosts Texas and is celebrating Pink in The Rink. The first 7,500 fans at Saturday’s game receive a pink LED light, presented by Susan G. Komen of Iowa and 1700 The Champ. As part of Pink In The Rink, Iowa dons pink-in-the-rink themed specialty jerseys. After the game, the team is holding a live postgame jersey auction, with the proceeds benefitting Susan G. Komen of Iowa. Fans may purchase the Brewdog Pack, presented by Legends American Grill. The package starts at $15 per fan, consisting of a ticket, a Wild puck, a hot dog and a beer at the game. Fans also receive a beer at Legends American Grill – downtown location.
Iowa finishes its three-game home stand at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb.15 against the Oklahoma City Barons. Sunday’s game is Crash’s birthday party, where the team celebrates with a superhero and mascot party. Numerous local mascots and super heroes will be on hand to help ring in Crash’s big day. The first 1,500 fans at Sunday’s game will receive an Iowa Wild insulated lunch bag, sponsored by Star 102.5. Fans may purchase the More 104 Subway Combo Pack, which starts at $12 per person, including a ticket, a hot dog, a soda and a Subway coupon.
The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
