WILD SET FOR PINK IN THE RINK THIS WEEKEND

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild is anticipating one of the biggest crowds of the season this weekend when it hosts Pink in the Rink on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.

In a partnership with the Susan G. Komen of Iowa, the Iowa Wild is hosting Saturday’s event to raise awareness for breast cancer. The Wild players will wear Pink In the Rink themed jerseys for the game. After the game is over, the players’ jerseys will be auctioned off in a live auction. Each auction winner will meet the player, get an autograph and take a picture with the Wild player after securing the winning bid. Last season, the auction and event raised more the $36,000 for Komen of Iowa.

The first 7,500 fans to the game receive an LED Light up Thunderstick. The LEDs will be used during the first intermisson for a “Light Up” ceremony, honoring all current and past breast cancer patients / survivors. The team will also have breast cancer survivors drop the puck for the pregame ceremonial puck drop. The Pork Producers are also chipping in with Pink Pigs for sale on the concourse as part of chuck a puck. The proceeds from chuck a puck will also go to Komen of Iowa.
