Iowa Concludes Home Stand Sunday at 4 PM

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild (17-33-1-1, 36 points) were defeated by the Texas Stars (23-16-10-1, 57 points) 2-0 in front of 9,107 fans on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Texas goalie Jussi Rynnas (16-4-6) made 25 saves in the victory, recording his fourth shutout this season. Forwards Greg Rallo and Brendan Ranford each scored for the Stars in the road win. Despite stopping 20 of 22 shots, Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson (7-17-1) recorded the loss. Iowa hosts Oklahoma City at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Stars opened up the scoring 10:06 into the first period when forward Greg Rallo tallied the game’s first goal. Rallo launched a wrist shot past Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson, giving Texas a 1-0 lead. Rookie forward Derek Hulak assisted Rallo for his 17th goal this season.

After a scoreless second period, Texas extended its lead when forward Brendan Ranford scored a power-play goal 12:30 into the third period. Ranford fired a wrist shot into the left corner of the net, scoring his 13th goal this year. Defenseman Matt Mangene aided Ranford for the 2-0 final.

Iowa finishes its three-game home stand at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb.15 against the Oklahoma City Barons. Sunday’s game is Crash’s birthday party, where the team celebrates with a superhero and mascot party. Numerous local mascots and super heroes will be on hand to help ring in Crash’s big day. The first 1,500 fans at Sunday’s game will receive an Iowa Wild insulated lunch bag, sponsored by Star 102.5. Fans may purchase the More 104 Subway Combo Pack, which starts at $12 per person, including a ticket, a hot dog, a soda and a Subway coupon.

After stops in Charlotte and Milwaukee, Iowa returns home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24 to face Grand Rapids. It’s a Taco Tuesday – presented by Taco Johns, where each fan that comes to the game receives a coupon for a free crispy beef taco from Taco Johns. It’s also a two-for-one Tuesday, where fans may purchase one attack end ticket and receive a second ticket one free, sponsored by Hits 99.9 FM. Also, those who bring in a Subway receipt may purchase a $5 game ticket at the box office. Iowa is also hosting a food drive, presented by Zerorez. Fans are encouraged to bring in a canned fruit item to receive a ticket voucher to a future regular season weekday game.

The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
