PINK IN THE RINK NETS OVER $30,000 FOR KOMEN OF IOWA

Iowa Wild Fundraiser Pulls In Massive Donation for Breast Cancer Awareness

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild, in conjunction with Susan G. Komen Iowa®, announced on Wednesday the club raised over $30,200 through its Pink In the Rink Promotion for Breast Cancer Awareness on Saturday night.

“Since its inception in 2013, the Iowa Wild has been committed to community programs and giving back locally”, said Iowa Wild President Todd Frederickson. “This is something that is important to us and close to the hearts of many, including our players and staff members. We can’t thank our fans enough for their generosity, especially our season ticket holders who were a major part of the auction. Komen has been a great partner and we could not be happier with the success of our second annual Pink in the Rink night.”

Iowa hosted its second annual Pink in the Rink Night on Saturday in a partnership with Komen Iowa ® and The Champ 1700 AM. Over 9,000 fans attended Saturday’s home game against the Texas Stars at Wells Fargo Arena. As part of the promotion, the team donned Pink in the Rink themed jerseys for the game. Afterwards, each player presented his jersey at a live postgame auction. Winning bidders were able to keep the jersey, meet the player, take a picture with him and get an autograph. Second-year forward Marc Hagel led all players with the highest-priced jersey at $2,000. The team also auctioned off numerous items via a silent auction on the concourse. Komen Iowa ® also received an additional donation, through a ticket sales fundraiser.

“We are delighted with the partnership we enjoy with the Iowa Wild in promoting awareness of breast cancer and working to not only help those who struggle with this disease,  but ultimately to find a cure. We look forward to this event each and every year and hope that supporters of Komen and the Iowa Wild will join us again next year for Pink in the Rink 2016”.

After stops in Charlotte and Milwaukee, Iowa returns home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24 to face Grand Rapids. It’s a Taco Tuesday – presented by Taco Johns, where each fan that comes to the game receives a coupon for a free crispy beef taco from Taco Johns. It’s also a two-for-one Tuesday, where fans may purchase one attack end ticket and receive a second ticket one free, sponsored by Hits 99.9 FM. Also, those who bring in a Subway receipt may purchase a $5 game ticket at the box office. Iowa is also hosting a food drive, presented by Zerorez. Fans are encouraged to bring in a canned fruit item to receive a ticket voucher to a future regular season weekday game.
