MINNESOTA RE-SIGNS THREE IN FIRST DAY OF FREE AGENCY

On the first day of free agency in the National Hockey League, the Minnesota Wild announced a flurry of re-signings, including forwards Mikael Granlund and Ryan Carter, as well as defenseman Nate Prosser.  Please find below a summary of all the signings.

Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Wednesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed center Mikael Granlund (pronounced mih-KIGH-ehl GRAHN-lund) to a two-year contract.

Granlund, 23 (2/26/92), collected 39 points (8-31=39), a plus-17 rating and averaged 17:54 in TOI/game in 68 games with Minnesota in 2014-15. He ranked third on the team in plus/minus and fifth in scoring and set career highs in games played, plus/minus, hits, faceoffs taken and faceoffs won and TOI/game. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound native of Oulu, Finland, added six points (2-4=6) and a plus-2 rating in 10 playoff contests. Granlund has tallied 88 points (18-70=88) in 158 NHL games during three seasons with Minnesota and owns 13 points (6-7=13) in 23 playoffs matches.

In addition, Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Wednesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed forward Ryan Carter to a one-year contract. 

Carter, 31 (8/3/83), tallied 13 points (3-10=13), 55 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-3 rating in 53 games with Minnesota last season after signing a one-year contract with the Wild on Oct. 6, 2014. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of White Bear Lake, Minn., ranked second on the team in PIM and fifth in hits (77). He set career highs in assists and blocked shots (30) and his point total was the second best in his career.

Carter has totaled 81 points (34-47=81) and 396 PIM in 413 career games during parts of eight NHL seasons with Anaheim, Carolina, Florida, New Jersey and Minnesota. He has added 12 points (7-5=12) and 38 PIM in 44 playoff games and won a Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007. Carter played two seasons at Minnesota State University - Mankato (2004-06) before signing as a free agent with the Ducks on July 12, 2006.

Finally, Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Wednesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed defenseman Nate Prosser to a two-year contract.

Prosser, 29 (5/7/86), tallied seven points (2-5=7) and 32 penalty minutes (PIM) in 63 games with Minnesota last season after he was claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 2, 2014. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound native of Elk River, Minn., set career highs in games played and shots (38) and ranked fourth on the team in blocked shots with 104. Prosser has totaled 28 points (5-23=28) and 159 PIM in 189 games during parts of six seasons with Minnesota. He has skated in 11 playoff games with the Wild and registered a plus-1 rating and 14 PIM. Prosser was originally signed as a free agent by Minnesota on March 18, 2010.

Iowa begins its third season in the AHL this fall. The team will host Opening Night on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team’s 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play its 2015-16 season at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
