Fans Can Stream Every Radio Broadcast Live

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Wild, in conjunction with iHeartmedia and Mediacom, announced on Tuesday the broadcast schedule for the 2017-18 American Hockey League (AHL) season. In addition, the Wild and iHeartMedia have announced a new two-year broadcast extension that runs through 2018-19.

The Wild enters its fifth season on 1460 KXNO – Des Moines’ sports station. A minimum of 60 games will be broadcast live on 1460 KXNO. Every game on the schedule will also be streamed live on iHeartRadio and AHL Live Radio. This marks the fifth consecutive season of Iowa Wild hockey on KXNO, dating back to 2013 – the team’s inaugural season in Des Moines.

“KXNO and iHeartRadio has been one of our biggest partners from day one in Des Moines,” said Iowa Wild President Todd Frederickson. “We could not think of a better place for our fans to catch games over the next two years, including our upcoming fifth-anniversary season”.

As part of the agreement, “Hockey Gone Wild” returns to the airwaves for its third season. The monthly hockey talk show airs seven times throughout the season. The show features player and coach interviews, as well as features and Wild season updates. The show is broadcast from various locations around Des Moines throughout the year. Dates for “Hockey Gone Wild” will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited about our continued partnership with the Iowa Wild,” said KXNO Program Director Andrew Downs. “We look forward to once again bringing our listeners world-class professional hockey and broadcasting live, local content.”

Joe O’Donnell returns for his fifth season behind the microphone, entering his 13th season of calling pro hockey on the radio. Overall, O’Donnell is in his tenth season with the Minnesota Wild organization, dating back to his time with the Houston Aeros. The 37-year old also worked in Idaho (ECHL) and Reading (ECHL). The Havertown, PA native called the 2011 AHL Calder Cup Finals, as well as the ECHL’s 2007 All-Star Game and 2007 Kelly Cup Finals. O’Donnell was named the ECHL’s Broadcaster of the Year in 2007. He will also serve as the primary host of “Hockey Gone Wild” and is the lead play-by-play broadcaster for all Iowa Wild TV broadcasts.

In addition, the Wild returns to television after extending an agreement with Mediacom in central Iowa. Over the last four seasons, the local cable company has partnered with the Wild to broadcast an average of six to seven home games a year. In 2017-18 Mediacom will broadcast seven Iowa Wild home games on MC22.
