Iowa Welcomes San Antonio on Friday and Milwaukee on Saturday
Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Wild (6-6-0-0, 12 points) were defeated by the Chicago Wolves (7-6-0-1, 15 points) 3-1 in front of 3,235 fans at the Wells Fargo Arena on Wednesday night. Chicago defenseman Joel Edmundson scored late in the second period and forward Ty Rattie added an insurance goal in the third period to push the Wolves past the Wild. Wolves’ defenseman Evan Oberg picked up two assists as Chicago handed Iowa its fourth loss in the last five home games. Chicago goalie Jake Allen (7-3-1) took care of the rest, stopping 26 Iowa shots for the win. Wild forward Erik Haula scored the team’s lone goal, as Iowa dropped to 3-5-0-0 at Wells Fargo Arena this season. Iowa goalie Darcy Kuemper (3-5-0) made 20 saves in the team’s third straight loss at home. The Wild continues a six-game homestand with San Antonio on Friday at 7:05 P.M.
Chicago got on the board first with an early goal at 2:32 by forward Corey Locke. The Wolves forward found a loose puck near the crease and lifted a wrist shot past Iowa goalie Darcy Kuemper, giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Forward Mark Mancari and defenseman Evan Oberg each picked up an assist on Locke’s fourth goal of the season.
Iowa tied things up at 4:54 of the second period with a goal by forward Erik Haula, knotting the score 1-1. Forward Brett Bulmer fed a cross-ice pass to defenseman Jon Landry, who snapped a wrist shot to the Chicago net. Goalie Jake Allen made the initial save, but Haula scored his fourth goal of the season off a rebound. The Wolves answered back with a goal at 15:32 by defenseman Joel Edmundson. Teammate Evan Oberg fed a cross-ice pass to Edmundson, who blasted a shot through traffic, off an Iowa defender and between the pads of Kuemper. Dmitrij Jaskin also picked up an assist on Edmundson’s first goal of the season.
In the third, Chicago’s Ty Rattie scored off a centering pass from defenseman Taylor Chornery at 10:36, Rattie’s fifth goal of the year expanded the Wolves lead to 3-1.
The Wild continues a six-game homestand, with San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:05 PM. Friday night’s game is a $2.00 Beer Night, featuring $2.00 ten-ounce drafts, presented by 100.3 The Bus. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used winter coats for the team’s clothing drive, presented by G & L Clothing. Fans who make a donation will be rewarded with tickets to an upcoming Iowa Wild home game. The team will conclude a weekend set on Saturday, Nov. 16 with the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:05 PM. The first 1,500 fans (12 and under) will be given an Iowa Wild Youth Jersey. Fans may purchase the Subway Family Four Pack for the game, which features four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and Subway coupons starting at $44. Iowa will host Grand Rapids on Friday, Nov. 22. The Wild concludes its homestand with Abbotsford on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24.
