FAN QUESTIONS WITH CARSON LAMBOS

The 2024-25 hockey season is still months away, but the Iowa Wild players haven’t forgotten about their fans in Des Moines. This summer, you'll have the opportunity to keep in touch with them via questions on Facebook, Instagram, and X. 

Defenseman Carson Lambos sat down to answer your questions on growing up in Winnipeg, pet peeves, and more! Stay tuned to Iowa Wild social media for your opportunity to have your questions answered by players in coming weeks. 

What does No. 71 mean to you? 

“It was my Minnesota training camp number, so I just rolled with it. My favorite number is 7. My brother wore it and I feel like it suits me pretty well.” 

What places would you like to visit in Iowa during your second professional season?  

“If the days lined up, I’d want to go see some college football or basketball. I’d also like to go check out the Tournament Club of Iowa golf course.” 

What inspired you to play hockey and who is your hockey role model? 

“My brother played and I wanted to be like him. Then I fell in love with it more than the other sports I played.” 

What coach has been most inspiring to you? 

“James Patrick, my coach through junior hockey, was really helpful. He took a lot of interest in helping me and taught me a lot of lessons I needed to learn. He’s had a huge influence on my career.” 

What is your favorite offseason sport to play and what sport do you like to watch? 

“I like to play golf a lot. I love watching my (Winnipeg) Blue Bombers in the CFL. I know it’s not as popular in the United States, but I prefer it to the NFL.” 

Which visiting town has the best place to eat? 

“Let’s go with Winnipeg. There’s actually a lot of great restaurants from Winnipeg.”  

As a Winnipeg native, what would you recommend doing in your hometown? 

“I'd say go to the Dairi Wip. It’s a Greek burger place owned by my family." 

Did you grow up a Winnipeg Jets fan? 

“I did. When the Jets moved back, it was a pretty big deal, so I was until I got drafted.” 

Which existed first – the chicken or the egg? 

“The chicken.” 

What is your mustache care routine? 

“Just let it grow.”  

What is your favorite thing about Minnesota? 

“The lakes and the golf courses are nice. It’s a hockey state, which is also great.” 

What comes first – cereal or milk? 

“Cereal.” 

What is your biggest pet peeve? 

“People who are late.” 

How long do you plan on playing hockey? 

"As long as I can.” 

Do you like popcorn, and if so, what kind? 

“I do. Kettle corn is my go-to.”
