IOWA WILD RECALLS STEVE MICHALEK, VAY TO RAPID CITY

DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr on Monday announced the American Hockey Leage (AHL) club has recalled goaltender Steve Michalek (MIKE-uh-leck) from the Rapid City Rush – Iowa’s ECHL affiliate. In addition, goaltender Adam Vay has been reassigned to Rapid City and forward Kyle Bonis (BOH-nis) has been released from a PTO.

Michalek, 24 (8/6/93), started five games for the Rush and posted a 3-2-0 record. Michalek is 20-19-3 with a 2.63 GAA and a .916 save percentage during his AHL career, all of which has been with the Iowa Wild.

Vay, 23 (3/22/94), made his AHL debut on October 28 in Tucson, becoming just the fifth Hungarian-born player to appear in an AHL game. In his lone AHL game, Vay stopped 29 of the 34 shots he faced in a 5-4 overtime loss. Last season, Vay won 20 games for the Quad City Mallards (ECHL).

In five games with Iowa, Bonis did not record a point. The Lindsay, ON native has played in 101 AHL games throughout his career. He will report back to the Toledo Walleye (ECHL).

The Wild hosts the Rockford IceHogs at Wells Fargo Arena at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday for the Wild About Education School Day Game.
