IOWA WILD TO HOST PRIDE NIGHT ON MARCH 19
Feb 2, 2022DES MOINES, Iowa – The American Hockey League’s (AHL) Iowa Wild, in conjunction with Des Moines’ Capital City Pride, today announced the team will hold its first-ever Pride Night on Saturday, March 19 when it hosts the Manitoba Moose at 6:00 p.m. CST.
In support of our mission to drive social change and foster inclusivity, the LGBTQ+ community will be highlighted throughout the game and many of the in-game elements will incorporate a Pride theme. This special night will begin with the American National Anthem, performed by the Des Moines Gay Men’s Chorus. The partnership between the Iowa Wild and Capital City Pride aims to bring communities together through partnership, inclusion and awareness.
"We are extremely excited to partner with Capital City Pride as we host our inaugural Pride Night. Our mission as an organization is to grow the sport of hockey across Iowa while strengthening our community partnerships," said Iowa Wild Vice President, Allie Brown. "Our partnership, along with this night, will allow us to continue to cultivate an environment for everyone to enjoy the great sport of hockey."
To kick off this special night, the first 1,500 fans through the doors will receive a Pride-themed hat sponsored by Capital City Pride and Kiss 107.5. Additionally, throughout the game, the Wild will sell signed, Pride-themed mystery pucks and merchandise with proceeds benefitting Capital City Pride. Fans can also expect the Iowa Wild players to showcase Pride-themed stick tape in the pre-game warmups.
There will be a limited supply of mystery pucks available and will cost $10.00 each.
Fans will also be able to purchase tickets for the game through a special ticket offer link sent out by Capital City Pride, and $5.00 from every purchase made through the ticket link will be donated to Capital City Pride.
“Capital City Pride continues to grow in how we celebrate, uplift and provide safe opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community. This first-ever partnership with the Iowa Wild is an exciting opportunity and we can’t wait to continue this partnership. Pride isn’t only in June – it can be in March too!” Said Capital City Pride President, Jen Carruthers.
