LIGHTS, CAMERA, DEWEY
Aug 23, 2021It’s a Monday and your week isn’t off to the best start. Where are you turning for a pick-me-up? For Iowa Wild forward, Brandon Duhaime, he turns to his family's dogs.
“I’ve got to plug her Instagram @shilohthepomsky2020,” Duhaime said. “We got her at a month-old back in December and she is a big ball of energy. It’s so awesome.”
Shiloh is not the only furry friend in the Duhaime household in Parkland, Fla. Five years ago, Duhaime’s father found a dog at his company’s construction site and took him in. Doug, as he is now known to Brandon and his family, doesn’t have the social media presence of his sister Shiloh but is just as loved.
“We don’t know what breed he is,” Duhaime said. “We picked him up when he was around one-year-old; he’s such a character.”
Doug wasn’t the only one who spent time at Brandon’s dad’s construction site in the past. However, both Doug and Brandon weren’t in favor of spending too much time there.
“When I was younger my dad brought me out to the site a few times to do some work,” Duhaime said. “I can confidently say it’s not something I want to do. It’s very hot, I was wearing jeans and I was ready to retire at lunch time on my first day.”
Speaking of lunch time, Duhaime sticks to a strong dietary regiment paired with a daily workout structure during the offseason. There are times, however, when Duhaime treats himself.
“Chick-Fil-A, a nice pizza, sushi… when I do it I really do it,” said Duhaime grinning. “If I’m at an all you can eat sushi spot, I think I’m downing 100 pieces of sushi. Three burgers at Five Guys are doable... it’s crazy how much I love food.”
Florida has plenty of sushi options to satisfy Brandon’s cravings, but it is also, unfortunately, loaded with reptiles.
“I am terrified of snakes,” Duhaime said. “Our backyard is constantly full of gators, which I don’t worry about too much. It’s the snakes that drive me crazy because you can’t see them, but they see you for sure.”
We hope to see you on our Facebook Live event on Wednesday, Aug. 25, featuring Brandon and Voice of the Iowa Wild, Joe O’Donnell. Fans are encouraged to join in on the conversation and ask questions.
