MINNESOTA WILD INKS COLTON BECK TO TWO-YEAR, TWO-WAY CONTRACT

Minnesota Wild General Manager Paul Fenton today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed forward Colton Beck to a two-year, two-way contract ($650,000/$75,000 in 2018-19 and $700,000/$85,000 in 2019-20).

Beck, 28 (6/10/90), owns six points (3g, 3a) and four penalty minutes (PIM) in seven games this season with Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League (AHL). The 5-foot-11, 183-pound native of Langley, B.C., recorded a career-high 28 points (10g, 18a) with Iowa last season also setting career bests in goals and assists. The forward tied the Wild's franchise record with a six-game goal streak from Oct. 13-27, 2017.

Beck owns 76 points (26g, 50a) and 68 PIM in 208 AHL games in five seasons (2013-19). The forward ranks fourth in Iowa Wild history in games played (205), fifth in shots (341) and sixth in goals (26), assists (50) and points (76). He made his professional debut on March 21, 2014 with St. John's and his Iowa debut on Nov. 28, 2015.

Beck skated in 146 games with University of Alaska-Fairbanks of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and collected 101 points (42g, 59a) and 81 PIM in four seasons (2010-2014). He served as captain of the Nanooks during his senior season (2013-14) and was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team.

Beck's father, Murray, was drafted by the WHA's Houston Aeros in 1974 and played professionally for five years. His uncle, Barry Beck, played 15 years in the NHL (1977-90), totaling 355 points (104g, 251a) in 615 career games with three different teams (Colorado Rockies, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings).
